Tattoo sells
double quick as over 75% tickets gone
MORE than 75 per cent
of tickets for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo
have been sold in four weeks, organisers
revealed today.
A total of 167,000 people have already
secured seats for the 56th Tattoo, which
runs from August 5 to 27.
It is an increase of 40,000 seat sales, and
£550,000, on the same period last year. A
total of £3.25 million has been taken at
the box office already.
Brigadier Mel Jameson, the Tattoo’s chief
executive and producer, said: "I’m
delighted with these outstanding early
sales.
"The ever-increasing demand to see the
Tattoo is thrilling. I can promise a
first-class production this year."
More than 1000 performers from Australia,
Norway, the United States and Russia are set
to feature in this summer’s Tattoo, which
celebrates the Royal Navy and commemorates
the 200th anniversary of the Battle of
Trafalgar.
Alongside a large contingent of Royal
Marines will be the Russian Cossack State
Song and Dance Ensemble from Moscow, the
Guard of His Majesty the King of Norway, and
the stirring sounds of a 200-strong massed
pipes and drums.
The Light Division Band and Bugles,
meanwhile, are set to provide a stunning
musical and marching exhibition.
