This no frills French owned restaurant is good value for money. It serves good French cooking at reasonable prices.

There is a reasonable amount of space with tables both at ground level and down stairs. You can also eat outside which can be a delight in a hot summer evening. Note there is a 10% charge for outside eating.

Same owner as the witchery , but sleek and modern. Fantastic views over the city. Expensive at night but lunch cheaper. Pre theatre supper recommended as only a few minutes walk from the festival theatre.

This is where the Edinburgh sect go for their lunches. Combine a lunch at the Tower with a visit to the Museum next door.

	The Witchery - by the Castle - 0131 225 5613 Tucked under a close next to the castle, atmospheric, and a Edinburgh institution. Under the nose of the Castle, the atmosphere of the Witchery makes a visit there a must. Quality: - 2 stars Atmosphere - 3 stars Value for Money - 2 Stars

Edinburgh Restaurants - Balmoral No 1,Princess Street

	No 1 Balmoral - Balmoral Hotel, 1 Princess Street - 0131 557 6727 Michelin starred and expensive but worth every penny. We recommend Chef's Tasting Menu with a wine per course.
